We Built The Scale Crew to Solve the Problem Behind the Problem.
Most business problems do not stay neatly inside HR, operations, customer experience, systems, or technology. They overlap.
The Scale Crew brings those disciplines together so growing businesses can understand what is actually holding them back, choose the right intervention, and implement change without creating more complexity than they solve.
We are not here to sell AI because AI is popular.
We are here to help businesses determine what will actually improve the business.
The Scale Crew in brief
- What is The Scale Crew?
- The Scale Crew is a U.S.-based business and technology consulting company that helps small and mid-sized businesses diagnose operating problems, evaluate AI and technology opportunities, repair implementation-readiness gaps, and implement or build solutions when the evidence supports them.
- What is BARA?
- BARA is The Scale Crew's Business AI Readiness Assessment. It evaluates where AI or other technology can create measurable value, what could prevent implementation from succeeding, and what the business should do next.
- Does The Scale Crew only implement AI?
- No. The Scale Crew may recommend repairing an operating problem, using existing software, buying or configuring a product, automating a workflow, building custom technology, or doing nothing yet.
- Where does The Scale Crew work?
- The Scale Crew is U.S.-based and serves companies nationwide.
We Came Together Because Businesses Rarely Have Only One Problem
Brandin Sargent founded The Scale Crew and later brought Anja Henderson and Tom Henderson on as partners. Together, their backgrounds across HR, operations, customer experience, and technology shaped the company's broader approach to solving business problems.
Brandin Sargent and Anja Henderson brought deep experience across HR, People Operations, business operations, systems, and technology. Tom Henderson brought almost 20 years of experience across Customer Support, Customer Success, Customer Experience, and the operating systems that connect companies to the people they serve.
All three of us had experienced layoffs. A mutual connection between Brandin and Anja brought the group together, and the early conversations quickly moved beyond career transition.
We kept coming back to the same observation:
Most consulting firms were built around one specialty, while the businesses they served were dealing with problems that crossed several functions at once.
A company might hire one consultant for HR, another for operations, another for customer experience, another for systems, and another for technology, even when all of those problems were connected.
We believed there was a better model.
Understand the whole operating environment first. Then bring the right expertise to the problem that is actually in front of the client.
- People
- Operations
- Customer
- Systems
- Technology
Then AI Changed the Problem We Were Seeing
As we began speaking with business owners, leading introduction calls, and working with clients, another pattern became difficult to ignore.
Small and mid-sized businesses were spending money on AI before they had clearly defined the problem they were trying to solve.
Leadership teams knew AI was changing business. They felt pressure to move. Consultants and technology companies were ready to implement whatever the client requested.
Months later, too many businesses were left with disappointing ROI, new complexity, added cost, weak adoption, or another tool employees barely used.
The problem was not always that the technology failed.
Often, the business had never established whether AI was the right answer in the first place.
A common failure sequence
- Pressure to use AI
- Tool selected
- Implementation begins
- Weak adoption/unclear ROI
- Wrong problem
What problem are we actually solving?
That led us to a much more important question:
Should this business be using AI for this problem at all?
That Question Became BARA
Business AI Readiness Assessment
We developed BARA to help businesses determine where technology can create measurable value, what could prevent it from succeeding, and what the business should actually do next.
BARA looks beyond executive intent.
It examines leadership, ownership, use-case discipline, employee readiness, capability, data, and execution risk so the recommendation reflects the operating reality of the business, not only the solution leadership originally had in mind.
- Sometimes the answer is AI.
- Sometimes it is automation.
- Sometimes it is software the company already owns.
- Sometimes it is a product the company should buy or configure.
- Sometimes custom development is justified.
- Sometimes the organization needs to repair its operating foundation first.
- And sometimes the right recommendation is to do nothing yet.
That independence is deliberate.
We would rather help a client avoid the wrong investment than create work for ourselves.
The Scale Crew may recommend:
- Do Nothing
- Repair
- Use What You Already Have
- Buy
- Configure
- Automate
- Build
See how BARA works.
We Are Not Paid to Agree With You
A consultant should not be valuable because they validate the decision you already made. They should be valuable because they help you make a better one.
Too often, consulting incentives work in the opposite direction. The client requests a solution, the consultant agrees to deliver it, billable work begins, and the more important question of whether that solution is actually right for the business never receives enough scrutiny.
We do not want that relationship with our clients.
- If the evidence says you should not build something, we will tell you.
- If an existing tool can solve the problem, we will recommend it.
- If your organization needs to fix a process, clarify ownership, improve data, strengthen employee readiness, or repair an operating weakness before adding technology, that comes first.
- If AI is the right answer, we will say so.
- If it is not, we will say that too.
We would rather help a client make the right decision today, support their growth, and earn the opportunity to help again later than maximize the size of one engagement.
Long-term client success beats short-term billable work.
What We Believe
Find the truth before you build the technology.
Technology should follow the business problem, not the other way around.
A clear diagnosis creates better decisions, better implementation, and a better chance of measurable return.
The right recommendation may be not to build anything.
We do not measure success by how much technology we sell.
If the evidence supports repairing a process, using an existing tool, waiting, or doing nothing, that is the recommendation the client should receive.
Fix the operating system, not just the symptom.
People, workflows, ownership, data, systems, customer experience, and technology are connected.
A tool rarely solves a problem that the surrounding operating environment is not prepared to support.
Human judgment still matters.
AI can strengthen people, workflows, and decision-making, but it should not replace accountability, context, or thoughtful human oversight.
The goal is better work, not technology for technology's sake.
Long-term client success beats short-term billable work.
If our recommendation helps a client become stronger, faster, and more profitable, the relationship has room to grow with them.
We would rather earn future trust than maximize today's invoice.
Built by Operators, Not Career Consultants
The Scale Crew is led by three partners with complementary backgrounds across people, operations, customer experience, systems, and technology.
That breadth is intentional.
BARA and our implementation work require us to understand how a decision affects more than one department, because real business problems rarely stay inside a single function.

Diagnosis First. Implementation Second.
The Scale Crew is built around a simple operating principle:
Find the truth before you build the technology.
BARA is the diagnostic front end.
It determines what problem is worth solving, what could prevent the solution from working, and what the business should do next.
From there, The Scale Crew can help the client:
- repair readiness gaps;
- improve workflows;
- strengthen ownership and operating structure;
- configure existing technology;
- integrate systems;
- automate repeatable work;
- or build custom software when the evidence supports it.
The recommendation does not depend on whether The Scale Crew receives the implementation work.
The client can take the findings elsewhere.
That independence is part of the value.
Diagnose
Every engagement
Understand the business reality.
Decide
Every engagement
Choose the intervention the evidence supports.
Prepare
Where necessary
Repair the conditions required for success.
Build
When justified
Implement, configure, automate, integrate, or develop.
Optimize
When something is implemented
Measure results, improve the system, and reassess as the business changes.
Not every engagement uses every stage. The decision path sets which stages follow.
See the full decision model in How We Work, and when custom development makes sense. The Scale Crew also built SignalForge, its internal AI Agent Readiness diagnostic for business websites.
U.S.-Based. Working With Businesses Nationwide.
The Scale Crew is a U.S.-based company working with small and mid-sized businesses across the country.
Our work is built for leadership teams that want better decisions before committing to new technology, and practical support when it is time to implement what the evidence supports.
Start with the diagnosis.
Not sure what your business actually needs?
Before you buy another tool, launch an AI initiative, or invest in custom development, understand the operating reality behind the problem.
BARA shows where technology can create value, what could prevent it from working, and what your business should do next.
